Reasons to Grind Stumps:

  • Insects such as bees, ants, and termites love old tree stumps

  • Rodents as well as snakes use old stumps as nesting sites

  • Make way for planting a new tree or shrub

  • If you want to create open space for planting grass, laying sod or landscaping your yard.

  • Make room to put up a new fence, patio, sidewalk, driveway, home addition, or garage

  • Stump removal is necessary for lot clearing before new construction can begin

  • Improve the drainage in your yard

  • Removing a stump can reduce or stop, re-sprouting or new growth of the tree that was removed

  • Stump grinding can also be used to grind surface roots that are lifting a sidewalk, patio, driveway, fence, or are too close to the foundation of your home

  • Stump grinding is usually the final phase in a typical tree removal job.  Most homeowners opt to have stump grinding done soon after tree removal simply because they don’t want to look at a stump sticking out of the ground. A stump in your yard can become an eyesore over time, and if it’s in the lawn you have to mow around it every week, in addition it can be a tripping hazard for you, your family, and your guests.

PREPARATION

Preparation

We are always willing to work with you and do some of the prep work for you.  However, some things that will help keep your cost down:

  • Is the work area clear of objects such as patio furniture, debris, rocks, etc?

  • It is always appreciated when doggy doo doo is cleaned up prior to our arrival

CLEAN UP

When we grind out your stump, you will end up with mulch. The size of stump will determine how much mulch you will have. Smaller stumps don't produce much but large stumps can produce a significant amount.  A general rule of thumb is that you will end up with a pile of mulch about 3x’s the size of the stump that’s being ground out.
We back fill the mulch into the hole, rake and sweep or blow the work site leaving it looking nice.
